Use this page to establish the search order for the search policy. When searching for policies associated with a Server object, User object, Workstation object, or Handheld object, ZENworks® Desktop Management, Handheld Management, and Server Management search the object, the object's groups, and the object's containers. The search order determines the order in which these are searched.
Policy Search Order
The default search order is Object > Group > Container, where:
To change the search order, select an item in the list, then use the arrows under the list to move the selected item up or down in the list.
Add
The Policy Search Order list contains a maximum of three items: Object, Group, and Container. If all three items are already in the list (the default), the option is not available. If you have removed one of the items from the list, you can click this button to restore it.
Remove
Use the Remove button to remove items (Object, Group, and Container) from the
list. If you remove an item from the list, Desktop Management, Handheld Management,
and Server Management ignore the item when looking for policies that might be
associated with an object.
For example, if you remove Group from the list, Desktop Management, Handheld Management, and Server Management do not search any Group, Server Group, Workstation Group, or Handheld Group objects to see what policies the User, Server, Workstation, or Handheld object might have inherited by being a member of a group. Instead, Desktop Management, Handheld Management, and Server Management search for an object's associated policies only in the object and the appropriate containers as specified on the Search Level page.
