Use this property page to enable or disable the policies that are applied to any container where you associate the Service Location Package. After you've enabled a policy, you can modify it to meet the needs of the containers where it is applied.
In ZENworks® for Servers 3.x, this policy is used only by the Distributor, because policies are Distributed rather than associated, and the Distributor does not receive Distributions.
Service Location Policies
Lists the available policies.
Enabled
This column indicates if the policy is enabled or disabled. To enable or disable the policy, select the check box.Policy
This column displays the name of the policy. If you have Server Management installed, the following policies are available:
- SMTP Host: Sets the TCP/IP address of the relay host that processes outbound Internet e-mail. This policy must be enabled if you select the E-Mail option for notifying or logging messages in any of the other policies.
- SNMP Trap Targets: Sets SNMP trap targets for associated Novell® eDirectoryTM objects. In ZENworks for Servers 2, both this policy and the SNMP Trap Target Refresh policy are used to manage SNMP. In Server Management, this policy must be scheduled, because a new Schedule tab on the policy replaces the ZENworks for Servers 2 SNMP Trap Target Refresh policy.
- Tiered Electronic Distribution: Provides defaults for Tiered Electronic Distribution objects.
- ZENworks Database: Sets the DN for locating a Server Management Database object. This policy must be in effect for Server Management or Desktop Management to locate a database file for logging successes and failures that are used in creating reports. If a database object is not identified with this location policy, Server Management or Desktop Management do not use the corresponding database file to log reporting information. Therefore, you should create this policy for each database object in the tree.
If you have Desktop Management installed, the following policies are available:
- SMTP Host: Sets the TCP/IP address of the relay host that processes outbound Internet e-mail. This policy must be enabled if you select the E-Mail option for notifying or logging messages in any of the other policies.
- SNMP Trap Targets: Sets SNMP trap targets for associated eDirectory objects. This policy must be scheduled.
- XML Targets: Sets the target locations (URLs) where XML data will be sent for processing.
- ZENworks Database: Sets the DN for locating a ZENworks Database object. If a database object is not identified with this location policy, Desktop Management does not use the corresponding database file to log reporting information. Therefore, you should create this policy for each database object in the tree.
The ZENworks Database policy is available in both the Server Package and in the Service Location Package. The ZENworks Database policy in the Server package lets you configure the Inventory database only. The ZENworks Database policy in the Service Location package lets you configure both the Inventory and the Application Management databases.
