Use this property page to enable or disable the policies that are applied to any Linux* server where you associate the Server Package. After you've selected a policy, you can modify it to meet the needs of the servers where you are applying it.
To manage policies that apply to all servers regardless of their platform, use the General page.
Server Policies
Lists the available policies.
Enabled
This column indicates if the policy is enabled or disabled. To enable or disable the policy, select or deselect the check box.Policy
This column displays the name of the policy. The following policies are available:
- Server Down Process: Controls the processes to follow when downing a server.
- Server Inventory: Configures the Inventory policy settings for the Inventory Scanner.
- SMTP Host: Sets the TCP/IP address of the relay host that processes outbound Internet e-mail. This policy must be enabled if you select the E-Mail option for notifying or logging messages in any of the other policies.
- SNMP Trap Targets: Sets SNMP trap targets for associated Novell® eDirectoryTM objects. This policy must be scheduled.
- ZENworks Database: Sets the DN for locating a Server Management Database object. This policy must be in effect for Policy/Package Agents to locate a database file for logging successes and failures that are used in creating reports. If a database object is not identified with this location policy, the Policy/Package Agent does not use the corresponding database file to log reporting information. Therefore, you should create this policy for each database object in the tree where the Policy/Package Agent writes information. This policy can point to the same database object as the similar policy contained in the Service Location Package, which the Distributor Agent uses for logging information.
- ZENworks Server Management: Configures basic parameters for Server Management, such as status logging, defining the server console prompt for the Policy/Package Agent, setting its working path, and setting a database purging limit. This policy can be enabled on each server where you want to enforce Server policies. If you do not enable the policy, Server Management works from preprogrammed defaults. However, we recommend that you enable this policy because you can specify how information is purged from the database. The database file grows with every Server Management success or failure logged. This control prevents the database file from becoming excessively large.
Schedule
This column indicates the schedule status of the policy. N/A means the policy cannot be scheduled. Default Package Schedule means the policy is using the Default Package Schedule established for the package (see Default Package Schedule below).
Properties
To modify a policy, make sure the policy is enabled, select the policy in the list, then click Properties. The policy modification applies to this server package only.
Reset
To reset a policy's properties to the default values, select the policy in the list, then click Reset.
Add
Click Add to add any of the following Server Management plural policies. Plural policies are policies that can be added more than once to a policy package. For example, you can have one or more Server Scripts policies.
Remove
To remove a plural policy that you've added, select the policy in the list, then click Remove.
Default Package Schedule
This field displays the Default Package Schedule that is used by all of
the package's policies that require a schedule and for which you have not established
individual schedules. If a policy is using the Default Package Schedule, "Default
Package Schedule" is displayed in the Schedule column of the Linux server
policies list.
Edit
Allows you to edit the package schedule.
