Scheduled Load/Unload

You can schedule the load or unload order of Linux* or Solaris* processes, NLM^TM files, Java* classes, and Windows* services.

Before scheduling the processes that down a server, you should schedule processes that allow the server to come down without causing inadvertent data corruption, such as first stopping Novell^® iFolder^TM. You shouldn't just kill processes to down the server.

IMPORTANT: On the Policy Schedule tab, you can change the schedule for this policy from the default of Package Schedule.

Add
Adds items to the list box. You can add each of the following options multiple times, and you can list the items in the order that you want them to be executed. Use the arrow keys to arrange the order.

Load NLM  (NetWare only)
If you select an NLM to be loaded by the software package, and the NLM is already running on the target server, the package installation fails and is rolled back (if rollback is enabled).

IMPORTANT: You cannot unload NLM files through a policy because many NLM files require user intervention to unload.

You can make sure that an NLM is not already loaded when you are including it in the software package by adding an unload option for that NLM before adding the load option, but only if this NLM does not require user input from the keyboard to unload it.

Filename
This must be the exact name.

Parameters
Include any command line parameters for the NLM.

Wait for This Process to Terminate Before Continuing
Select this option for an NLM that terminates itself. It must terminate within 10 minutes, or the whole loading process fails. By default, this option is deselected.

Load Process  (Linux, Solaris, and Windows only)

Filename
This must be the exact name.

Parameters
Include any command line parameters for the process being run.

Wait For This Process to Terminate Before Continuing
Select this option for a process that terminates itself. It must terminate within 10 minutes, or the whole loading process fails. By default, this option is deselected.

Load Java Class  (all platforms)

Filename
This must be the exact name. The .class extension is not necessary.

Parameters
Include any command line parameters for the Java application being run.

JVM Parameters
Include any parameters for the Java machine.

Wait for This Process to Terminate Before Continuing
Select this option for a Java application that terminates itself. It must terminate within 10 minutes, or the whole loading process fails. By default, this option is deselected.

Unload Process  (all platforms)
If an NLM requires intervention to unload, you must remember to unload it manually before extracting the policy.

Filename
This must be the exact name. Because many NLM files require user input to unload, their unloading cannot be automated.

Wait for This Process to Unload Before Continuing
Select this option for a process that unloads itself. By default, this option is deselected.

Start Service  (Windows only)

Service Name
This must be the exact name.

Wait For This Service to Finish Running Before Continuing
Select this option for a service that starts itself. By default, this option is deselected.

Stop Service  (Windows only)

Service Name
This must be the exact name.

Wait For This Service to Stop Before Continuing
Select this option for a service that stops itself. By default, this option is deselected.

Remove
Removes selected items from the list box.
