Environment Options: Client Access

The Client Access Environment options set client licensing and login mode options.

Client Licensing
Specifies what type of license a user has. Select Limited License Mailboxes or Full License Mailboxes, depending on what type of licenses have been purchased. With a limited license, the user is restricted from running the GroupWise® Linux/Mac client, but can run GroupWise WebAccess. If you set the lock at the domain level, there can be no exceptions at the post office or user level. If you set the lock at the post office level, there can be no exceptions at the user level.

Client Login Mode

Allow Use of Remote Mode
Lets users log in with or change to Remote mode.
Allow Use of Caching Mode
Lets users log in with or change to Caching mode.
Force Caching Mode After __ Days
Forces users to log in to GroupWise in Caching mode. Specify the number of days before Caching mode will be enforced. This allows the user to continue using Online mode until the grace period has passed. The grace period begins the first time the user connects to the POA. The setting applies per user per workstation.
The Force Caching Mode setting is not enforced on a workstation that does not have enough disk space for a Caching mailbox. The following amount of disk space is required: the size of the mailbox + 20 MB + 25% of the mailbox size.

By Default, Show Login Mode Drop-Down List on Client Toolbar
Displays a drop-down list in the client toolbar that allows users to set the login mode. This setting only applies to GroupWise 6.0 clients (if you are running a 6.0 Windows client against your 6.5 or later Linux system).

Restore Default Settings
Click to return to the default settings and clear any options you have changed.

Lock Buttons
If you click a lock button on any option, users cannot change the default setting for that option. The lock is effective for the object where you set it: domain, post office, or user. A lock at a higher level overrides a different setting at a lower level.

When settings are locked at the domain or post office level, the information is distributed to the levels below it. If a setting is locked at the domain object, the setting in the post office and user objects shows a padlock with a globe next to it, representing a domain. If it is locked at the post office object, the setting at the user object shows a padlock with a postal box next to it, representing a post office.

If a setting cannot be locked at the user level because the option is not available in the GroupWise client, the setting in the user object does not contain a lock button. However, a lock icon shows if the setting was locked at the post office or domain.
