The General Environment options determine the appearance and functionality of the GroupWise® client.

status.

Show Messenger Presence
Allows user availability in Messenger to be displayed in the GroupWise Windows
client, so that users can easily choose instant messaging as an alternative
to e-mail. Messenger presence icons appear in the From field of a received message,
in the Quick Info for users specified in the To, CC, and BC fields of a new
message, and in the Quick Info for users in the Address Book.
Allow Use of POP and IMAP Accounts in the Online Mailbox
Controls GroupWise client users' access to POP and IMAP accounts. It is deselected
by default. Select Allow Use of POP and IMAP Accounts in the Online Mailbox
to provide the following functionality for client users:
IMAP Copy Results in a GroupWise Move
Controls whether items with strikeout markup caused by IMAP e-mail client move/copy
functionality retain the strikeout markup in GroupWise.
By default, when you move an item from one folder to another in an IMAP e-mail client, the IMAP e-mail client creates a copy of the item in the new location and marks the original item for deletion. The IMAP e-mail client might display the original item with strikeout markup, to indicate that it will be deleted according to the cleanup schedule you have selected, or the IMAP e-mail client might hide such items until they are automatically cleaned up. When this IMAP behavior synchronizes to your GroupWise mailbox, GroupWise by default displays the original items with the strikeout markup, and you might have been manually cleaning up your GroupWise mailbox. Select this option so that items with strikeout markup no longer display in GroupWise.
Allow Use of News (NNTP) Accounts in the Online Mailbox
Lets users set up newsgroup (NNTP) accounts in their Online mailboxes.
Restore Default Settings
Click to return to the default settings and clear any options you have changed.
Lock Buttons
If you click a lock button on any option, users cannot change the default setting
for that option. The lock is effective for the object where you set it: domain,
post office, or user. A lock at a higher level overrides a different setting
at a lower level.
When settings are locked at the domain or post office level, the information is distributed to the levels below it. If a setting is locked at the domain object, the setting in the post office and user objects shows a padlock with a globe next to it, representing a domain. If it is locked at the post office object, the setting at the user object shows a padlock with a postal box next to it, representing a post office.
If a setting cannot be locked at the user level because the option is not available in the GroupWise client, the setting in the user object does not contain a lock button. However, a lock icon shows if the setting was locked at the post office or domain.
