These options let you set defaults for message status, expiration, return notification, and reply. To set options at the domain level, select a domain. To set options at the post office level, select a post office. To set options for selected users, select one or more users.
Classification
Sets the default for the security
classification label at the top of the message box. It does not provide
any encryption or additional security. It is meant to alert the recipient
to the relative sensitivity of the message.
Priority
Determines which post office directory a message is placed in. This in turn
determines how quickly messages are delivered. High priority messages are queued
ahead of standard or low priority messages.
Reply Requested
Alerts the mail recipient when a reply is requested. The different settings
reflect the relative urgency of the request.
MIME Encoding
Select the default MIME encoding for all outgoing messages. The MIME encoding
is used to specify the character set that is used for all outgoing messages.
This is important when your company has users using different character sets.
Allow Use of "Reply to All" in Rules
Select this option to enable users to use the Reply to All action when creating
rules. By default, this option is disabled, which means that only the Reply
to Sender action is available.
Allow Use of "Internet Mail" Tracking
Select this option to allow users GroupWise clients to automatically embed
information in Internet-bound items. The embedded information instructs the
receiving system to send back a delivery notification message (if it is supported).
By default, this option is enabled.
To make Internet Status Tracking work, users must also turn on the setting in the GroupWise client (Tools > Options > Send Options > Mail > Enable Delivery Confirmation). By default, the Enable Delivery Confirmation is turned off in the GroupWise client.
Expiration Date
Causes unopened messages to expire after a set period of time.
Delay Delivery
Initiates a set delay for the delivery of
messages.
Wildcard Addressing
Allows a user to use a wildcard in the To field for sending a message to all
users on a post office, domain, or system. The default is Limited to Post Office,
but it can be disallowed or changed to Limited to Domain, Limited to System,
or Unlimited.
For this feature to work, the POA must be running on both the sender and recipient post offices when the message is sent. If any recipient POAs are not running, users on those recipient post offices do not receive the message. When wildcard addressing is used, undeliverable messages are not queued for later delivery.
Not Allowed
Wildcard addressing is not allowed for the object selected.
Limited to Post Office
Sets wildcard addressing at a post office level only; that is, the message can be sent to all users on the same post office by using the following syntax:
- To every user on the same post office: *
If you want to use wildcard addressing to send a message to users in other post offices, wildcard addressing must be set at the domain level (if addressees are in any post office in the same domain) or at the system level (if addressees are in any post office in the entire system).
Limited to Domain
Sets wildcard addressing at a domain level only; that is, the message can be sent to all users on a domain by using the following syntax:
- To every user on the same domain: *.*
- To every user on a different domain: *.domain_name
If wildcard addressing is set at the domain level, a message can be sent to all users on another post office in a different domain by using the following syntax:
- To every user on a different post office: *.post_office_name or *.post_office_name.domain_name
Limited to System
Sets wildcard addressing at a system level only; that is, the message can be sent to all users in a GroupWise® system by using the following syntax:
- To every user in the system: *.*.*
Unlimited
Wildcard addressing can be used to send messages to all users on one or more GroupWise systems.
Notify Recipients
Automatically notifies recipients of a
message from this user.
Convert Attachments
Allows conversion of attachments in items sent to foreign mail systems by way
of a GroupWise gateway.
Allow Reply Rules to Loop
By default, reply rules are not allowed to loop. To override this restriction,
select this option.
Maximum Recipients Allowed
By default, users can send messages to any number of recipients. To prevent
users from sending messages to very large numbers of users, perhaps using groups,
distribution lists, or wildcard addressing, specify the maximum number of recipients
that a message can be sent to. If users exceed the specified maximum, they receive
an error instructing them to remove recipients and try again.
Restricted Attachment Extensions
To prevent users from sending specific types of attachments, such as executables,
media files, and so on, specify the file extensions that cannot be attached
to messages. If users attach a restricted file type, they receive an error indicating
the file type restriction, so that they can remove the attachment.
Restore Default Settings
Click to return to the default settings and clear any options you have changed.
Lock Buttons
If you click a lock button on any option, users cannot change the default setting
for that option. The lock is effective for the object where you set it: domain,
post office, or user. A lock at a higher level overrides a different setting
at a lower level.
When settings are locked at the domain or post office level, the information is distributed to the levels below it. If a setting is locked at the domain object, the setting in the post office and user objects shows a padlock with a globe next to it, representing a domain. If it is locked at the post office object, the setting at the user object shows a padlock with a postal box next to it, representing a post office.
If a setting cannot be locked at the user level because the option is not available in the GroupWise client, the setting in the user object does not contain a lock button. However, a lock icon shows if the setting was locked at the post office or domain.
