Use this property page to configure the Internet Addressing settings for this external user. The settings on this page override the settings established at the external domain level (External Domain object > GroupWise tab > Internet Addressing page) or the external post office level (External Post Office object > GroupWise tab > Internet Addressing page). The Internet Addressing settings for your GroupWise® system are not applied to external domains, external post offices, and external users.
Preferred Address Format
The preferred address format determines how e-mail addresses are displayed in
the GroupWise Address Book and in the To field of sent messages.
By default, the GroupWise External User object inherits its preferred address format from the domain-level or post-office-level setting. To override the inherited setting for this object, select Override, then select the preferred address format.
Preferred E-Mail ID
If you do not want to use one of the preferred address formats, specify an explicit
address for the username portion of the address format. The address can be in
any form as long as all characters are RFC compliant (no spaces, commas, and
so forth). The username portion must be unique within its Internet domain.
Allowed Address Formats
The allowed address formats determine which address formats GroupWise supports
for incoming messages and for POP3/IMAP4 logins. GroupWise delivers a message
only if the recipient's address conforms to one of the allowed address formats.
Because the allowed address formats apply to POP3/IMAP4 logins, do not deselect UserID@Internet_domain_name if you have POP3/IMAP4 users. This would prevent them from logging in with their GroupWise user IDs, and using a different format would be inconvenient for them.
By default, the GroupWise object inherits its allowed address formats from the system-level, domain-level, or post-office-level setting. To override the inherited setting for this object, select Override, then select the allowed address formats.
Internet Domain Name
The Internet domain name, along with the preferred address format, is used to
construct the user's address included in the GroupWise Address Book.
To override the currently-assigned Internet domain name, select Override, then select the Internet domain name you want used with this user.
IMPORTANT: Entering an Internet domain name can affect the way your GroupWise system routes messages to this external user. By default, GroupWise uses the link established from your system to the external user's system. However, if you enter an Internet domain name that is unknown to your GroupWise system, the Internet Agent is automatically used to route messages to the user. An Internet domain name is unknown to your system unless it has been defined as an Internet domain name for your system (Tools menu > GroupWise System Operations > Internet Addressing) or has been added to your system through synchronization with an external GroupWise system (Tools menu > GroupWise System Operations > External System Synchronization).
