A GroupWise® gateway can create a log file (that is, a processing record for incoming and outgoing messages) as it runs. The gateway log file is stored in the gateway's xxx.prc directory and can be viewed from the gateway operation screen. Use the Log Settings page to set the file's configuration defaults according to your needs.
Log File Path
Browse to and select the directory where you want this Internet Agent or WebAccess
Agent to store its log files. The default location varies by platform:
Internet Agent:
NetWare® and Windows*: domain\wpgate\gwia\000.prc
Linux*: /var/log/novell/groupwise/domain.gwia
WebAccess Agent:
NetWare and Windows: domain\wpgate\webac80a\000.prc
Linux: /var/log/novell/groupwise/domain.webac80a/000.prc
For GroupWise gateways, manually specify the directory path or select the folder icon to browse the system to select a directory location where the log file will be created and stored.
Logging Level
Use this property to set the level of
detail you want in the gateway log file. The gateway logging levels
provide information at increasing levels of complexity, with Diagnostic as
the highest and Normal as the lowest. You can choose a logging level by
using a startup switch on the command line, in a startup file, or from the
gateway operation screen.
Diagnostic
This setting provides a detailed trace of gateway messages, errors, and operations and can be useful for troubleshooting.
Verbose
This setting displays extra message routing details and message processing information.
Normal
This is the default setting. It displays only basic message routing information, providing only a summary of gateway activity.
Off
This setting disables the logging mode. No messages are displayed in the log window of the gateway operation screen.
Maximum Log File Age
Specify the maximum number of days you want to save the log file before the
gateway deletes it. The default is 30 days.
Maximum Log Disk Space
Specify the amount of disk space (in kilobytes) you want as the limit for log
files. When the limit is reached, the gateway deletes the oldest file until
the space occupied is under the maximum allowable limit. If you set the size
to 0 (zero), there is no disk space limit for log files. The default is 102400
KB (100 MB).
