Optional gateway settings listed on this page might or might not be available for your gateway. For more information, see your gateway documentation. Gateway documentation is available on the web at the GroupWise Online Documentation site.
Directory Sync/Exchange
Directory synchronization is the
sharing of directory information (that is, the address lists) between
GroupWise® and another messaging system connected to GroupWise through a
gateway. Select a directory synchronization option from the list. By
default, None is selected.
None
Click this option if you want the user directories for GroupWise and the foreign messaging system to stay exclusive of one another.
Synchronization
Click this option if you want the changes (that is additions, deletions, and modifications) to user and resource definitions that are propagated throughout the GroupWise system directories to be sent to the foreign messaging system.
Exchange
Click this option if you want the directories of GroupWise and the foreign messaging system to be exchanged through the gateway. Directory exchange occurs daily at midnight.
Both
Click this option if you want to activate both Directory Synchronization and Directory Exchange.
Accounting
Click Yes if you want the gateway to keep accounting records for every message
it sends or receives. The gateway records this information in an ASCII text
file called acct, which is placed in the xxx.prc subdirectory and updated
daily at midnight or when the gateway is terminated. Accounting information
for the previous day's activity is sent daily to the user designated as the
accountant. If no user is designated, the file is cleared.
Convert Status to Messages
Click Yes to enable GroupWise
to convert status information (normally accessible only from the
Properties window) to a mail message and place it in the sender's mailbox.
This feature is not supported by some gateways.
Outbound Status Level
From the list, select one of the the five outbound status levels. GroupWise
lets you track a message's status from the time it is sent until the recipient
deletes it. When a GroupWise user receives a message from a user of a foreign
messaging system, GroupWise sends a status message to the sender. Using this
option, you can adjust the amount of detail in the status messages sent to the
foreign system. You might not always want to have the outbound status level
enabled. For instance, if you work with a radio carrier or some other form of
message transport for which it is expensive to send messages, disable this option.
Enable Recovery
Click Yes to let the gateway attempt to
restart itself or reestablish the connection to the foreign system when
either fails.
Retry Count
Enter the number of times you want the
gateway to attempt to recover a connection if the connection fails.
Retry Interval
Enter the number of seconds you want the
gateway to wait between attempts to recover its connection if the
connection fails.
Failed Recovery Wait
Enter the number of seconds you want
the gateway to wait between a failed recovery and a retry.
Network Reattach Command
Enter a command that the gateway
can use (such as a batch file) to reattach to the network if its network
access is interrupted and if you select Yes for the Enable Recovery
option. For example, to map a network drive, enter the following command:
map j:=server1\sys:headq
Correlation Enabled
Click Yes to enable the gateway to
keep track of incoming status messages from foreign messaging systems.
Message correlation is a record in the database that allows text-format
status messages from a foreign system to be converted into status messages
that are meaningful to the GroupWise system. For some gateways, enabling
this option lets the Busy Search and Appointment features of GroupWise
work through the gateway.
Correlation Age
Enter the number of days you want the
correlation record to remain in the GroupWise system database.
HTTP User Name
To limit access to the gateway Web console, provide a unique user name. Do not
use a Novell® eDirectoryTM user name because the
information passes over the insecure connection between your Web browser and
the gateway.
HTTP Password
Click Set Password, provide a unique password for the HTTP user name, then click
Set Password.
