Use the Edit Domain Link dialog box to configure a direct link (mapped, UNC, or TCP/IP) between two domains. In a direct link, the source domain MTA communicates directly with the destination domain MTA with no intermediate steps.
Description
Indicates how this domain (the source domain)
connects to the domain at the other end of the link (the destination
domain). Make sure you are editing the correct link.
Link Type: Direct
Select Direct.
Protocol
Select the communication protocol to use from the source domain to the destination
domain.
For each protocol, default link information is provided based on information already specified when you created and configured the Domain and MTA objects. From the Link Configuration Tool, you can change the information already specified for the Domain and MTA objects, or you can override it with link-specific information.
Mapped
Displays the location of the destination domain using a format of drive:\domain_directory instead of the UNC path specified on the domain Identification page. This enables the Windows* MTA to access the destination domain using a mapped drive rather than a UNC path. You can change the location if needed.UNC
Displays the path to the destination domain using a format of \\server\volume\domain_directory, as specified on the domain Identification page. You can change the location if needed. To use a different, link-specific UNC path, select Override, then specify the UNC path that should override the one provided on the domain Identification page.
TCP/IP
Displays the IP address of the server where the MTA is running and the message transfer port that the MTA listens on to receive messages, as specified on the MTA Network Address page. To change this information, click Edit.
To use a different, link-specific IP address and port number, select Override, then specify the IP address and port number that should override the information provided on the MTA Network Address page.
Maximum Send Message Size
Specify the maximum size in
megabytes for message files the MTA can process.
If a message file exceeds the maximum allowed size, the sender and the administrator receive a "delivery disallowed" message specifying the size of the rejected message file and the size limitation.
A message file includes all text associated with a message: the message body, the distribution list, and any attachments. Because message files are compressed, attachments that would exceed the maximum size in their uncompressed state can still be processed successfully.
Delay Message Size
Specify the size in megabytes for
message files the MTA can process immediately.
If a message file exceeds the delay message size, the message file is moved into the low priority (6) message queue. This arrangement allows typical messages to be processed promptly, while delaying large messages that exceed the specified size. The result is that large messages do not slow down processing of typical messages.
Transfer Pull Info
Click to open the
Transfer Pull Info dialog
box and set up a transfer pull configuration between the domains.
External Link Info
Click to open the
External Link Info dialog box
and set up a link to an external domain.
Scheduling
Click to open the Link
Scheduling dialog box and establish a schedule controlling when the
link is allowed to open.
