Use this page to create a nickname for a GroupWise® object (user, resource, distribution list, and so forth).
A nickname is an alternate e-mail address. Any messages addressed to the nickname are routed to the object just as if the messages had been sent to the object's actual e-mail address.
Nicknames are not displayed in the Address Book, which means users need to know the nickname to use it.
Nicknames are valid Internet addresses. For example, Internet users can address messages to nickname@Internet_domain_name.
Domain.PO
Select the domain and post office you want used in the nickname.
Object ID
Specify the name you want to use for the nickname's object ID.
Visibility
Select the visibility level for
this nickname. Visibility for a nickname works differently than it does for
other GroupWise objects. The visibility level determines which post offices
the nickname is distributed to, just as it does with other GroupWise objects.
For someone to use the nickname when addressing a message, the nickname must
be distributed to the user's post office. However, nicknames are not actually
displayed in the GroupWise Address Book, which means users need to know the
nickname to use it.
Given Name
If you are creating the nickname for a user, specify the user's given or first
name.
Last Name
If you are creating the nickname for a user, specify the user's last name.
Expiration Date
To expire the nickname at a specified date and time, click Enable, then choose
a date and time from the Select Date dialog box.
