A GroupWise® nickname is an alternate e-mail address for the object (user, resource, distribution list, and so forth). Any messages addressed to the nickname is routed to the object just as if the messages had been sent to the object's actual e-mail address.
Any part of an address (objectID.post_office.domain) can be replaced to form the nickname. For example, you could change the object ID, change the post office, or change both.
Nicknames are not displayed in the Address Book, which means that users need to know the nickname in order to use it in the GroupWise client.
Nicknames are valid Internet addresses. For example, Internet users can address messages to nickname@Internet_domain_name.
