Maintenance

Use the Maintenance page to configure the database maintenance tasks you want the POA to perform.

Enable Automatic Database Recovery
Select this option if you want this POA to automatically recover any user or message database where invalid structure or information is detected. Whenever a database is recovered, the domain administrator receives a message in GroupWise.

Maintenance Handler Threads
Specify the maximum number of threads this POA can create for performing mailbox/library maintenance. The default is 4; valid values range from 1 to 8.

Perform User Upkeep
Select this option to have this POA perform the following activities once a day:

• Advance uncompleted tasks to the next day
• Delete expired items from users' mailboxes
• Empty expired items from Trash
• Synchronize users' Frequent Contacts books with the GroupWise Address Book
• Synchronize user addresses in personal groups with the GroupWise Address Book, in case users have been moved, renamed, or deleted

The upkeep performed is determined by the settings located in Client Options > Environment Options > Cleanup. Auto-Delete is run by the POA during user upkeep, while Auto-Archive is run by the client as soon as the user accesses his or her mailbox. In Caching mode, Auto-Delete is also run by the client.

Unread items such as messages and upcoming appointments are not deleted. However, unread calendar items such as appointments, reminder notes, and tasks that are scheduled in the past are deleted.

Although user upkeep includes deletion activities, it does not necessarily reduce mailbox disk space usage. To reduce disk space usage, use Tools > GroupWise Utilities > Mailbox/Library Maintenance > Expire/Reduce Messages.

If you deselect this option, the GroupWise client still advances users' uncompleted tasks to the next day, but the other activities are not performed.

Start User Upkeep
Specify the number of hours after midnight for this POA to start performing user upkeep. The default is 1 hour.

Generate Address Book for Remote
Select this option to have this POA generate a daily copy of the GroupWise Address Book for GroupWise Remote client users to download.

Deselect this option to have the POA generate a copy of the GroupWise Address Book when a Remote client user requests one and the existing copy is more than 24 hours old.

Start Address Book Generation
Specify the number of hours after midnight for the POA to generate the daily copy of the GroupWise Address Book for Remote client users. The default is 0 (zero), meaning at midnight.

Disk Check Interval
Specify in minutes the time interval for this POA to check available disk space. The default is 5 minutes.

In addition, create a Disk Check event from the Scheduled Events page to specify how the POA should handle low disk space conditions.

Disk Check Delay
Specify in hours the time interval for this POA to wait before notifying the administrator again about an already-reported disk space problem. The default is 2 hours.
