Use the Configure Agents dialog box to enable MTAs for Novell® eDirectoryTM user synchronization and to provide the required eDirectory access for each eDirectory enabled MTA.
Agents
Lists all MTAs in your GroupWise® system. Select
an MTA to configure for eDirectory user synchronization.
Enable
Select an MTA, then click Enable to turn on eDirectory user synchronization
for the selected MTA.
Disable
Select an MTA, then click Disable to turn off eDirectory user synchronization
for the selected MTA.
Set Up eDirectory Access
Select an MTA, then click Set Up eDirectory Access if the MTA you want to enable
for eDirectory user synchronization displays No in the eDirectory Access column.
After you set up eDirectory user synchronization, the selected MTA will display Restart Required in the eDirectory Access column. If the eDirectory enabled MTA runs on a different server from where the domain is located, you must configure it so it can access the domain, then restart it.
Configuring the MTA for eDirectory Access
If the eDirectory enabled MTA runs on a different server from where the domain
is located, you must add the /dn startup switch to the MTA startup file to specify
the distinguished name of the MTA object so the MTA can authenticate to eDirectory.
If it runs on the same server, it can look up the distinguished name in the
domain database.
Using the /dn switch is preferable to using the /user and /password switches,
so you do not need to expose a password in the MTA startup file.
Restarting the MTA
After providing the necessary startup switches in the MTA startup file, exit
the MTA you have just configured for eDirectory user synchronization, then start
it again. If you use the Restart option from the MTA server console, the MTA
will not reread its startup file and will not restart with eDirectory user synchronization
enabled.
