Trusted applications are third-party programs that can log into Post Office Agents (POAs) and Internet Agents in order to access GroupWise mailboxes without needing personal user passwords. Trusted applications might perform such services as message retention or synchronization with mobile devices.
Some trusted applications set up trusted application configuration information in ConsoleOne when they are installed. Others do not.
Use this dialog box to create or edit a trusted application's configuration information.
Name
For an existing trusted application, this field displays the trusted application's
name. If the trusted application set up the configuration information when it
was installed, you cannot change the name.
For a new trusted application, specify a unique name.
Description
Enter a description for the trusted application.
TCP/IP Address
If you want to restrict the location from which the trusted application can
run, enter the IP address of the server from which the application can run.
To do so, click Edit ( the pencil button), then enter the IP address or DNS
hostname of the trusted application's server.
If you want to allow the trusted application to run from any server, do not enter an IP address or DNS hostname.
Requires SSL
Select this option to require a secure (SSL) connection between the trusted
application and MTAs or POAs.
Provides Message Retention Service
Select this option if the purpose of the trusted application is to retain GroupWise
user messages by copying them from GroupWise mailboxes (user databases) into
another storage medium.
Turning on this option simply defines the trusted application as a Message Retention Service application. In order for GroupWise mailboxes to support message retention, you must turn on the Enable Message Retention Service option in the GroupWise Client Options (Tools menu> GroupWise Utilities> Client Options > Environment > Retention). You can enable individual mailboxes, all mailboxes in a post office, or all mailboxes in a domain by selecting the appropriate object (User, Post Office, or Domain) before selecting GroupWise Client Options.
Allow Access to Archive Service
Select this option if you want your message retention service to archive messages. Message retention services can work in concert with third-party system-wide archiving services. Such archiving services archive messages from all clients, in including the WebAccess client. If you enable message archiving, users have message stubs for archived items. Attachments are removed. If a user needs to access an archived message, the archive services return the message and any attachments to the user. The user can also search archived items without having stubs in the mailbox.
Archive Service Address
Click Edit ( the pencil button), then enter the IP address or DNS hostname of the server where the archive Service is running. Also specify the port number on which the archive service can communicate with the message retention service.Archive Service Requires SSL
Select this option if you want to use a secure connection between the archive service and message retention service. The public certificate file and the private key file for the POA that communicates with the message retention service provide the required authentication information.
Location for Key File
For a new trusted application, browse to and select the directory where you
want to create the trusted application key file. The key allows the third-party
program to authenticate to the POA or the Internet Agent and obtain GroupWise
information that would otherwise be available only by logging in to GroupWise
mailboxes.
Name of Key File
Specify the name of the trusted application key file to create. The third-party
program must be designed to successfully access the trusted application key
file where you create it.
