X.400 Identification

The fields on this page are used to create unique X.400 records for a user. There are three kinds of users that you define X.400 information for:

Depending on the type of user and your X.400 setup, you might not need to fill out all of the fields. For additional instructions about these user types, see one of the following:

X.400 Information for a GroupWise User
X.400 Information for an External X.400 User
X.400 Information for an X.400 User Added to the Gateway

IMPORTANT: Do not change the default settings unless you understand what the option does and you have a specific purpose for changing it. Some of these options can be set in the gateway.dat file. See the GroupWise X.400 Gateway Guide for more information.

Additional Instructions

X.400 Information for a GroupWise User
For many GroupWise users in your system, it might be unnecessary to define X.400 information to create an X.400 record. However, there might be circumstances where you would need to create X.400 records. For example, if users' first and last names are not unique, you could create X.400 records to distinguish their X.400 addresses. In such a case, you don't need to fill out all the fields for each user; fill out only the distinguishing fields, such as Middle Initial. Also, if you have modified the way the X.400 Gateway creates outbound X.400 addresses and resolves inbound addresses, you might want to create X.400 records to accommodate the modifications.

X.400 Information for an External User
If you want users to be able to address external users through the X.400 Gateway, you must define X.400 information to identify the X.400 address for each user. The information required to fully qualify a user's address varies depending on the individual address. The Surname field must be defined with the user's last name. The Given Name field must be defined with the user's first name if the Given Name component is part of the user's X.400 address. Any other fields for X.400 address components that are not defined elsewhere when setting up the X.400 Gateway must be defined here. For example, you might need to fill in the Country field with the two-letter country code. You might also need to fill in the ADMD (A), PRMD (P), and Organization (O) fields with the corresponding values of the user's X.400 address. You might have already defined some of the address information when you created a foreign domain or a post office within a foreign domain.

X.400 Information for an X.400 User Added to the Gateway
If you add an X.400 user to the gateway, you must include all the information in the fields corresponding to the user's X.400 address. No other address components are defined elsewhere for such a user. Address components you probably need to fill in include the Surname, Given Name, Country, ADMD, PRMD, and perhaps the Organization.
