Create or Modify an Image Selection Rule
Use this dialog box to create or modify a rule that specifies the conditions
that apply when you put a particular image on a workstation. Take care to choose
rules that apply only to the workstations you want imaged. Otherwise, an image
could be unintentionally pushed to another workstation.
Use This Image
Click the browse button next to this field to select the image object to use.
When the Following Conditions Are Met
Use this area to specify the conditions under which to use the image, such as
"IP address begins with 123.45.67.89 AND hard drive size > 2048."
- To specify a condition, select a workstation feature, logical operator,
and value.
- The value you specify is compared with the actual value on the workstation,
as detected by the imaging engine. (You can see a workstation's current hardware
configuration data by booting it with the imaging diskettes in manual mode
and issuing the img info command.)
- A string comparison is performed in most cases. However, Hard Drive Size
and RAM use a numeric comparison. The numbers represent megabytes: 128 equals
128 MB, 1024 equals 1 GB, and so on.
- For MAC Address, use pairs of hexadecimal digits with no spaces or colons
between them. For example: 00C04FDC2AB5.
- To add another condition, select AND or OR in the last field of the previous
condition. Use AND if both conditions must be true. Use OR if only one of
the conditions must be true.
- The conditions are evaluated in pairs from left to right. For example, if
you specify four conditions A or B and C and D, they are evaluated as ((A
or B) and C) and D, where the innermost parentheses are evaluated first.
