Displays the available policies for the selected platform. Policies contained in the User Package apply only to the associated Novell® eDirectoryTM User and User Group objects.
Policies
Clicking the down-arrow on the Policies tab displays the individual platform
pages. Select a specific platform to configure and enable policies for that
platform. In ZENworks® Desktops Management, the
platform pages have been reorganized and expanded. The available platforms include:
NOTE: You must be running the Desktop Management Agent to configure and enable policies for Terminal Servers. To configure polices for Terminal Servers, you must use the appropriate Terminal Server platform page. Terminal Servers support only the following policies: Novell iPrint, Windows Desktop Preferences, Windows Group, User Extensible policies, Dynamic Local User, and Windows Terminal Servers. Terminal Servers do not support the Scheduled Action and Remote Control policies.
User Policies
Lists the available policies for each platform page, indicates whether a policy
is enabled, and displays its schedule status.
The Enabled column indicates whether a policy is enabled. To enable or disable a policy, click the appropriate check box in this column.
The Policy column lists available policies for the selected platform. Some policies are not available for each platform. A complete list of available policies includes:
Dynamic Local User: (Not available on the General and Windows 9x pages.) Configures users created on Windows NT/2000/XP workstations or Terminal Servers after they have authenticated to eDirectory.
Novell iPrint: Sets user parameters for printing using iPrint. After printers are installed, users use the Internet to print to iPrint printers just like any other printer, regardless of the printer's physical location.
Remote Control Policy: Sets parameters for managing remote user functions, such as whether to prompt users for permission to remotely control their workstations.
User Extensible Policies: (Not available on the General page.) Allows you to control any application function that is configured in the Windows registry. Extensible policies are user-defined.
Windows Desktop Preferences: (Not available on the General page.) Allows you to enable roaming profiles and apply desktop settings.
Windows Group Policy: (Not available on the General, Windows 9x, and Windows NT pages.) Acts as an extension of extensible policies for Windows 2000 and Active Directory*.
Scheduled Action: (Not supported on Terminal Servers.) Sets up schedules for specific actions. This is a plural policy, meaning it can be added many times to the policy package. This policy must be added using the Add button.
If you are upgrading from a previous version of ZENworks, additional policies might display in the Policy column. These policies have been discontinued and do not ship with ZENworks Desktop Management but are still available for use.
The Schedule column indicates the schedule status of the policy. N/A means it cannot be scheduled.
To select a policy without enabling or disabling it, click the policy name.
