Displays the available policies for the selected platform. Policies contained in the Workstation Package apply only to the associated Novell® eDirectoryTM Workstation and Workstation Group objects.
Policies
Clicking the down arrow on the Policies tab displays the individual platform
pages. Select a specific platform to configure and enable policies for that
platform. In ZENworks® Desktop Management, the
platform pages have been reorganized and expanded. The available platforms include:
Workstation Policies
Lists the available policies for each platform page, indicates whether a policy
is enabled, and displays its schedule status.
The Enabled column indicates whether a policy is enabled. To enable or disable the policy, select the appropriate check box in this column.
The Policy column lists available policies for the selected platform. Some policies are not available for each platform. A complete list of available policies includes:
Computer Extensible Policies: Sets user-defined policies (from .adm files) for workstation objects.
Novell iPrint: Sets workstation parameters for printing using iPrint. After printers are installed, users can use the Internet to print to iPrint printers just like any other printer, regardless of the printer's physical location.
Remote Control: Sets parameters for managing remote user functions, such as whether to prompt users for permission to remotely control their workstations.
Windows Group: (Windows 2000 and Windows XP only) Acts as an extension of extensible policies for Windows 2000/XP and Active Directory*.
Workstation Imaging: Sets the parameters for imaging workstations. Because the Imaging policy is applied before the operating system starts, you must configure this policy using the General page. Do not use the Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP pages to configure this policy.
Workstation Inventory: Sets what hardware and software inventory data you want to view for each workstation. It also identifies an Inventory server for each workstation in the network.
ZENworks Desktop Management Agent: Sets the parameters for the ZENworks Desktops Management Agent, which lets users access the Desktop Management Middle Tier server using an IP address from outside the firewall. Also sets the parameters for the Workstation Manager Agent, which lets users access the ZENworks server from inside the firewall. The ZENworks Desktop Management Agent policy lets you use Desktops Management without using the Novell Client.
Scheduled Action: Sets up schedules for specific actions. This is a plural policy, meaning it can be added many times to the policy package. This policy must be added using the Add button.
If you are upgrading from a previous version of ZENworks, additional policies might display in the Policy column. These policies have been discontinued and do not ship with Desktop Management but are still available for use.
The Schedule column indicates the schedule status of the policy. N/A means it cannot be scheduled.
To select a policy without enabling or disabling it, click the policy name.
