General

Use this page to view information about the selected BlackBerry*, Palm* OS*, or Windows* CE handheld device object.

Owner
Displays the owner name of the associated handheld device.

For BlackBerry devices, ZENworks® Handheld Management uses the Name field under Options > Owner on the device.

For Palm OS devices, ZENworks Handheld Management uses the Owner setting in Preferences on the device. If the Owner setting does not exist in Preferences, ZENworks Handheld Management uses the name defined in Palm HotSync*.

For Windows CE devices, ZENworks Handheld Management uses the Owner Information setting in the Control Panel or in the Settings menu on the device.

If the owner information is changed on a handheld device, ZENworks Handheld Management will update the User Name field with the new information.

Platform
Displays the associated handheld device object's platform: BlackBerry, Palm OS, or Windows CE.

Client Version
Displays the version of the ZENworks Handheld Management Handheld client installed on the associated handheld device.

Last Connected
Displays the date and time that the associated handheld device last connected with the ZENworks Handheld Management Server.

Access Point
Displays the name of the Access Point machine that the handheld device connects to. This option applies only to Palm OS and Windows CE devices; it does not apply to BlackBerry devices.

Device State
Displays the current state of the associated BlackBerry device. This option applies to BlackBerry devices only; you cannot lock or unlock Palm OS or Windows CE handheld devices using ZENworks Handheld Management.

The available device states include the following:

The Device is in a Normal/Unlocked State: Indicates that no lock command has been issued and the device is unlocked.

The Command to Lock the Device Has Been Issued: Indicates that the lock command has been issued, but the reply from the associated BlackBerry device has not yet been received.

The Device is Currently Locked: Indicates that the associated BlackBerry device has received and enacted the lock command.

To lock or unlock the associated BlackBerry device, click the button next to the Device State text box to open the Lock/Unlock Device dialog box, then select either Unlock the Device or Lock the Device. If you select Lock the Device, you can enter text that will display on the associated BlackBerry device.

Device GUID
Displays the handheld device's GUID (global unique identifier).

Associated User
Displays the DN of the user of the associated handheld device, if the administrator has populated this entry.

Inventory Status
Displays the date and time that the associated handheld device was last scanned for inventory information.

Last Hardware Inventory
Displays the date and time when hardware inventory was last collected from the associated handheld device.

Last Software Inventory
Displays the date and time when software inventory was last collected from the associated handheld device.

Assign Desktop
This option applies to BlackBerry devices only.

Because ZENworks Handheld Management lets you distribute software to BlackBerry devices that are synchronized with a cradle (ZENworks Handheld Management does not support over-the-air software distribution to BlackBerry devices), this association tells the ZENworks Handheld Management Server where to send handheld application objects during a distribution.

To assign a desktop machine to the selected BlackBerry device, click Desktop, click an assignment from the list, then click OK.

Status

This option applies to BlackBerry devices only.

Displays the status of the selected BlackBerry device. For example, if you use the Assign Desktop button to assign a desktop machine to the BlackBerry device, the status might be "machine assignment requested." If the BlackBerry device cannot connect with the assigned desktop machine, the status might be "connection failed."
