Buttons: Configuration

Use this page to associate Palm* OS* applications with the buttons on the Palm OS devices configured in this policy. It also lets you assign a feature users can access when they drag the pen from the writing area to the top of the screen on each Palm OS device.

Select an Application to Customize Each Button
Lets you change the applications that are associated with the buttons on associated Palm OS devices. For example, if your organization has a specific application that users often use, you can associate that application with any of the buttons on the device, making it easier for users to access that application.

Button
Lists the available buttons on the Palm OS device.

Assignment
Lists the application that is assigned to each button on the Palm OS device. If the assignment is Not Specified, the device's button is associated with the factory default application.

Edit
Lets you change the selected button's application association.

To change a button's association:

  1. Select a button from the Button list, then click Edit.
    The Edit Button Assignment window is displayed.
  2. Click Set to Application
  3. Manually enter an application name, or browse to and select an application.
  4. If you manually enter an application name in the previous step, you cannot enter the Creator ID. But if you browse and select an application, the Creator ID is automatically populated.
  5. Click OK.

Reset
Resets the selected button to its factory default value.

Pen
Lets you assign a feature users can access when they drag the pen from the writing area to the top of the screen on the Palm OS device. For example, you can select Turn Off & Lock to make it easier for users to turn off and lock their Palm OS devices. To assign a feature, select an option from the drop-down list.
