Report Wizard - Drill Down

Report Wizard allows you to quickly create a basic design of the report.  JReport prompts you to define what tables, fields, summaries, and other options are used in a very rough report design.  In this way Report Wizard saves you time in the basic organization and layout of data from the database.

In the Drill Down Report Wizard, you have the Drill tab.  This allows you to "hide" specific sections of your report so that you can display short summaries, rather than pages of data.

Getting Started:
Complete all the necessary information in the Data, Query, Display tabs.   In the Group/Sort tabselect the fields you would like to group your data in.  Next, select the Drill tab.

This window will list the fields you selected in the Group/Sort tab along with the report section Details.   Clicking under the Show field will toggle an x to a check and vice versa.  The x indicates that the section will now be "hidden" in the report.

Note:  If you hide one of your fields, the Details section will automatically be hidden as well.

When you have finished the report design and have viewed the result under the View tab, you will notice the toolbar rpt-drilld1.gif (917 bytes) Table of Contents.  Clicking this will pop up the following window:

In the Table of Contents window, you will see that the detail info is grouped in the same manner as what was set under the Group/Sort tab when using the Report Wizard.  Choose an Item to show its detail (assume we set the x-icon besides the Details section under the Drill tab).  In this case, we want the detail of the customers in the city of "San Francisco" to be shown.  After clicking the Go button, you will find a new tab appearing on the main window :

Next to the View tab, you will see the new tab CUSTOMERS_CITY:San Francisco.  Under this tab you will see the details of customers in the city of
"San Francisco".
